the design team of birsel + seck recently collaborated with american furniture manufacturer
herman miller to re-invent the file cabinet. this standard piece of office furniture has seen little
changes throughout its history. the office, on the other hand, has radically changed. the ‘teneo’
furniture series aims to re-imagine the file cabinet for the workplace of today. the series took
inspiration form the human body, breaking down its components into skeleton, organs and skin.
by deconstructing the pieces, the collection can be customized exactly to the clients needs.
86-99% of the line is recyclable, because it dismantles so easily and no glue of adhesives
were used in the production. in june, the collection won the best of competition award at
neocon 2008 for best of filing and storage.
